According to the 2026 report of the Varieties of Democracy Institute, Mongolia ranked 75th in the Liberal Democracy Index.

In the 2025 report, Mongolia was ranked 81st in the Liberal Democracy Index, but this year it has improved by six places.

Mongolia made its most significant progress in the Deliberative Democracy Index, rising by 25 places to rank 40th. This improvement reflects the country’s efforts to incorporate discussion and diverse viewpoints into policy-making and decision-making processes.

The Democracy Report by the Varieties of Democracy Institute evaluates the level of democracy in more than 200 countries worldwide.
